Early on August 3rd, 2006, Michael and Amanda were getting ready for their first day of exploring Charleston, South Carolina. While Amanda was taking her time getting ready for a blistering hot day in the South, Michael's anticipation was building with what was to come.

When Amanda finally came out of the bathroom, Mike was laying on the bed with a book in his hands. His comment to Amanda was he wanted to read this book but he wanted Amanda to start it off for him.

Amanda was skeptical but once she realized what book it was she was ecstatic. The book was "The Notebook" by Nicholas Sparks, Amanda's favorite novel. As she opened the cover her excitement grew when she noticed a poem written by Michael.

The poem expressed Michael's love for her and at the end he asked for Amanda's hand in marriage! Then as she turned the page she found the most beautiful ring laying in s small box cut out of the pages of the book!

Much to Michael's dismay, Amanda started giggling with excitement, she even gave him the wrong hand to place the ring on! In the end, they managed to get the ring on the correct finger on the correct hand and Amanda said, yes! Today you see the ring-bearer carrying this very book that Michael proposed in.
